Saturday 03 July 2004, 8:00pm £13.50, £18.50 www.liverpoolphil.com/index.asp------------------------------------------------------------- Natacha Atlas Of Egyptian ancestry, Natacha Atlas first came to prominence in multi-cultural troupe Transglobal Underground, bringing her vocals to their riot of tonal colour, as well as contributing the raq sharki (belly dance) techniques that she learned as a teenager into the band's live performances. For the last five years, she has been concentrating increasingly on her solo career, and spending as much time as possible in Cairo, strengthening her bonds with her roots, immersing herself in shaabi, Egypt's indigenous bluesy pop music, and writing songs in Arabic. She brings this unique array of influences to bear on her music not simply by patchworking them together, but by synthesising them into something thrillingly new. www.mantrarecordings.com/natachaatlas

Natacha is my favorite artiste to dance to & I simply cannot wait until July to see her. Natacha is coming to Liverpool as a part of the Arabic Arts Festival, which forms an important part of Liverpool's 2008 City of Culture bid, motto ' the world in one city'. Liverpool would like to welcome as many visitors as possible to our unique culture, I hope you can all drop in on us sometime. Saahira.
