I was wondering about the Arabic name Qadriyah, which is posted on the female arabic names page of this website. In particular, I have asked a few friends of mine who are Arabic speakers if they ever heard of that name, and they said they have not. So my questions are:
1- Is it a rare name? 2- Are there particular groups or countries in the Arab world which use it and others that don't? If so, which countries use it? 3- When did this name come in to use? Is it from old times, or more of a new name?
4- The root word 'Qadr' seems to have more than one meaning. I was hoping someone could clarify its exact meaning for me. What I've seen it translated as is "power" or "destiny". Whats the history behind this word?
If anyone could answer these questions I'd be very grateful.
Thankyou.
