I really like the names Shakira, Aaliyah and Sharifa. What are your favorite girls names?

Hi Ms Cleo, I know what you mean, some of the arabic names are so poetic, western names seem prosaic by comparison unless you're lucky enough to be given a celtic name (e.g. Aislin - pronounced Ashleen, meaning vision.) I looked at many arabic names while looking for my dance name and the choice was very difficult. Saahira

Hello All
I just discovered this forum. It looks very interesting; also I find sudairy.com site is very helpful.
I need your help.
I read the name Juwan in the "arabic names-feminine" section. God's willing, I will have a baby girl in July.
I like the name Juwan a lot; sounds like Joan or Joana. Can you please confirm if the name is really arabic and means Perfume as suggested on this website. I looked in the arabic dictionnary but i couldnt find it. Thank you for your help. Hala.

I am looking for a western muslim name for a boy that doesn't begin with A or Z. My first son's name is Aiden Jibril Mistry. I am married to an Irish Girl, so am looking for something that is a nice mix of two cultures. Any suggestions.

What do you think of "Faris" (horseman, knight, cavalier; Source: sudairy.com/arabic/masc) Colin (Celtic) Mistry?
